Muscle Cramping

Muscle CrampingMuscle cramping is extremely unpleasant, as anyone who has ever had a “charlie horse” will attest. There are a number of remedies that have been tried. A new article in Neurology suggests that B complex vitamins may be an effective treatment. Other treatments that may work are the prescription drugs Diltiazem and quinine, although quinine is not recommended unless other treatments have failed due to the potential side effects. The article was not encouraging for gabapentin, magnesium, baclofen, tegretol or oxcarbazepine. If you are having trouble with muscle cramping, discuss treatment options with your doctor. |
