Nothing can ruin your tropical vacation faster than a case of traveller’s diarrhea (TD). Consider Dukoral, an oral vaccine used to help prevent TD caused by enterotoxigenic E. coli in those aged two and older. The vaccine consists of two doses taken one week apart. The second dose is given at least one week prior to departure and protection lasts for three months. Dukoral is available from your pharmacist without a prescription. Talk to your health care provider about this and other preventative measures to ensure a healthy holiday.
